*Place to socialise for the community that is free (reduces social isolation)
*Friendly and welcoming for all ages
*Opportunity to drop in and get advice guidance and support from our community champion (debt, benefits, job search, PIP, CV’s etc)

COMMUNITY SOCIAL ACTION PROJECTS

Our community members are very keen to get involved in every aspect of our community provision, the majority of them want to be involved in community action project/social enterprise projects. Some of the projects they have decided are:

THE FREE COMMUNITY SHOP
*Want it to be open 5 days per week
* All items are donated by the community
*Some users donate small amounts of money that is then managed by volunteers and used to purchase needed items like compost (for community garden) or jars for home made jam.
*Local school donates lost property uniform at the end of each academic year, so a lot of users come in looking for uniforms

FREE COMMUNITY CAFE

*Free hot meal for all users, planned, shopped for, prepared and served by volunteers.
*Place to socialise for the community that is free (reduces social isolation)

FREE COMMUNITY GARDEN

*Want it to be open 7 days per week
* Proven to be a great benefit for mental health
*All fruit and veg grown are either used in the community café, given to the community or used to produce jams and chutneys for the community

CLLD - Community Champion

The aim of the programme is to develop initiatives or identify projects to effectively engage or sign post residents to develop intervention and prevention support to help secure and sustain future employment. We are aware there are several barriers which prevent residents seeking employment, therefore to combat these issues the community champions provide support with a range of issues ranging from referrals regarding addiction, claim forms for benefits and housing, developing CV's and job applications, domestic abuse, money management, accessing training programmes and volunteering.
