 Level 1 City and Guilds Employability Skill

Functional Skills or GCSE Maths & English


Connect Aims To...

Provide you with a range of informal learning opportunities that will prepare you to go on to further education, training or employment upon completing the course.



During your time on the programme you will complete a City and Guilds Employability Skill, as well as an appropriate Basic Skills qualification.

You will receive City & Guilds Certificate in Employment Skills and a Maths and English Qualification which will look good on your C.V.



  • Receive £10 a week for full attendence .

  • Your child benefit will continue and you could be entitled to a bursary of £40 a month.

  • You will become a full time collage student and be entitled to all the benefits of being a student, including an ID Card.


  • Only 3 days a week.

  • 9:00am-3pm.

During your time on this course you will be able to:

  • Have Fun!

Entry Requirements:

  • You must be 16 to 18 years of age

  • You must not be taking part in any other full-time form of training or education

  • Qualifications are not required for entry to the programme


Learner Support:

  • Each student will have regular support/review meetings with a named member of staff

  • Students who have difficulties with literacy and/or numeracy will be offered additional learning support, either 1 to 1 or small group basis.


Opportunities for Work Related Learning and Work Experience:

  • The course can provide work experience.

  • Staff will support individuals in all aspects of work

This course will cover a

number of topics including:

  • Alcohol & Drug Awareness

  • Prepare For Work

  • Team Work Skills

  • Participating In Leisure Activities
